Author spreads awareness about seals, marine animals in new book
Children, adults alike will be entertained, learn lessons through story of Sheree Jeanes’ ‘Simon & Sedef’
HUNTINGTON STATION, N. Y. – Sheree Jeanes debuts with an inspiring story of a young seal washed ashore by a storm. “Simon & Sedef” (published by AuthorHouse) highlights the journey of the young seal as he receives kindness from other sea animals and from people too.
Simon, the young harbor seal, is swept away by a spring storm. He finds himself all alone and has to figure out how to fend for himself. On his lone journey, he meets other ocean dwellers and some land dwellers too. Although he enjoys the company of his newfound friends, he is always hoping that somehow, in the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean, he will find his family again.
“The adventure of Simon is one that had happened before,” Jeanes says. “Seals and other animals are regularly washed ashore throughout the Northeast USA and are rescued by The Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research & Preservation.”
Through her story, Jeanes not only spreads awareness about the plight of seals and other marine animals. She also encourages people to cultivate compassion and kindness to others as showcased by her characters who helped Simon in his journey.
Readers who get a copy of this book will not only be entertained with a vividly illustrated tale of survival and kindness but will also help support the rescue and rehabilitation of marine animals as 10 percent of this book’s proceeds will be given to the foundation.
